Environment Canada is calling for thunderstorms overnight and significant rainfall for Revelstoke on Sunday, warning of potential flash flooding, rising rivers, downed trees, and danger to those recreating or working outside.
The forecaster issued a special weather statement on May 30, warning of a low pressure system moving into the area from Washington State on Saturday night.

“Ahead of the low, atmospheric conditions will be conducive to the development of strong to severe thunderstorms this evening and overnight. The main hazards are heavy rainfall rates (up to 10-25 mm/h), very strong winds up to 80-100 km/h, 1-2 cm hail, and intense lightning,” it said in the statement. “Additionally, widespread rainfall will accompany the low pressure system overnight and Sunday. Total rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm except up to 50 east of the Okanagan valley are expected by Sunday afternoon.”

Environment Canada has issued weather warnings for Kootenay Lake and the West Kootenay, calling for severe thunderstorms there.
