Reved Quarterly celebrated it’s tenth anniversary last month in typical community-minded style. Staff and supporters of this fabulous local magazine decided to mark the occasion by doing what they do best. They created a special publication by locals, about locals, and for locals (well, if British Columbians as far away as Vancouver can be considered local — Reved Quarterly now distributes to over 200 locations around Southern B.C.)

Heather Lea, staff, and volunteers have created a terrific coffee-table style book called The Best of Reved Quarterly which features their best stories of the past ten years. The stories in this arts, culture and lifestyle magazine (looks like a newspaper but has the personality of a magazine) are about everything (and especially everyone) in this community that matters. In fact, my favorite section of the magazine is called What Matters which features stories about environmental happenings in our community.
Other categories included in the quarterly magazine (listed in the order that I love to read them!) include Heritage Moments: stories from Revelstoke’s history; The Scene: trends happening in our community; Know your Neighbour: stories about the folks next door; and Around the World: travel stories — which was Heather’s original idea for the magazine’s focus until she decided to add other topics of great interest and relevance to Revelstokians.
The Best of Reved Quarterly combines the absolute best of of the stories from the above categories (of which there are many more; including features about artists, businesses, musicians, and youth). I know there will be at least another ten years of this terrific quarterly magazine which is now available online as well as in full-color print (14,000 copies are now printed each year!) Go to www.reved.net to read the current issue, find past issues, to buy merchandise, and, of course, to buy this beautiful coffee-table book.
