The Revelstoke Mountaineer is excited to unveil our new weekly feature, the Mountaineer Volunteer.
Each week, we’ll feature a hard-working Revelstoke volunteer and learn a bit about how they give back to the community through volunteer service.
That volunteer then pays it forward and nominates the volunteer to be featured the next week.
We started close to home with friend of the Revelstoke Mountaineer Karl Jost. We’re looking forward to people we’ll meet and the stories they have to share through this pay-it-forward initiative!
Mountaineer Volunteer: Karl Jost
Volunteer work: Columbia Valley Skateboard Association president
What do you do there? As president of the CVSA, Karl organizes fundraising, sets goals for the organization and keeps the ball rolling on their efforts to build a skatepark in Revelstoke. Karl also carries out “presidential duties” as he puts it.
Why do you volunteer? Karl loves skateboarding and thinks a skatepark would be a great, positive thing for the community in many ways. It’s an inexpensive recreation opportunity for kids and adults and provides another way to stay healthy and have fun. He also feels it’s a great compliment to the community, and will help in our efforts to build our reputation as a great lifestyle town.
