Revelstoke’s fire chief, Dwayne Voykin, has resigned from his position with Revelstoke Fire Rescue Services after 23 years with the service.
The City of Revelstoke announced the change in an April 20 media release.
Voykin was hired to the position in October of 2018. Previously, he had served as the assistant fire chief and concurrently as the department’s training officer and emergency program coordinator.
Prior to that, Voykin was a volunteer firefighter for nine years then a career firefighter for 14 years.
“It has been my honor to serve the citizens of Revelstoke as a volunteer firefighter, career firefighter and last of all as fire chief, spanning over the last 23 years.”
City of Revelstoke Chief Administrative Officer Dawn Low said that Voykin had resigned for personal reasons.
Assistant fire chiefs Rocher Echlin and David Mohn will lead the department on an interim basis as the city advertises the position and seeks a new fire chief.
Voykin will remain in the position for the next few weeks.
