Revelstoke ski mountaineer Andrew McNab has released the final installment of his three-part video series Quiver, which explored three different facets of ski touring. Part three focuses on the mountaineering and exploring side of the sport. The video is embedded above.
Part one focused on fun in powder. See our story and the video here.
Part two looked at the competitive racing side. See our story and the video here.
We introduced McNab’s Quiver series in January, when the first part came out. Here is our story from January:
Revelstoke ski mountaineer Andrew McNab is featured in the recently released first installment of Quiver, a three-part video project that highlights three sides of ski touring.
The Revelstoke native skier, racer, photographer and videographer said the project is “about the diversity of touring.”
Part one focuses on the powder side of ski touring in the Revelstoke area. The next two parts are scheduled for release in February and March. Part two will focus on ski mountaineering racing and part three on ski mountaineering adventures.
The title ‘Quiver’ is a reference to the different skis.
“I wanted to put a different light to it,” McNab explained of his exploration of the different ski disciplines. Powder skiing lends itself to artistic expression, ski mo racing to competition, while multi-day touring brings the thrill of adventure.
“To me, all three play together and balance each,” McNab said.
McNab has been on skis in the Revelstoke area since he was two, and made his first tracks touring on cross country skis when he was about six. He is an accomplished ski mountaineering racer. Quiver was directed by Kevin Landry, Taylor Loughran and Andrew McNab.
The project was created with help from sponsors Atomic Skis, and supporters MEC and Ergogenics Nutrition.
Check back to the Revelstoke Mountaineer for parts two and three in the coming months, or follow the Quiver project Facebook page.
